WordPress can provide an immediate positive impact on the online message of any nonprofit organization, and we are introducing a focused effort to assist you in your communication and branding in the form of an online community – WP4Good club, especially for WordPress nonprofit users.
What is WordPress?
WordPress is a content management system, and as such can be the basis for your first website, and since it provides so much variety of easily used functions, it can grow with your organization. Why WordPress? It is easy. For example, you have a dashboard which will record the number of times people visit your website. It, will record comments from your readers, and allow you respond, or identify as spam and delete, to just name a few. You can read a more comprehensive “Why WordPress?” post here.
Most prominent feature in our minds is that WordPress is the only content management system that allows you to take your content with you when you want to upgrade your site from WordPress.com to a self-hosted site or move from one hosting company to another. In other words, you own your content, and can move it, rename it so that it becomes your organization’s name, as opposed to “Jim’s Charities at WordPress.com” and add non-WordPress.com plugins to it (such as an online payment system). To take your website to the next level, you can build on your previous work and don’t have to restart from scratch. Your site grows with you, your organization and so will your impact.
One of the optional benefits of the WP4Good club is website hosting. We have negotiated a deep discount with a hosting company which will save you and your technical people substantial time each month. There is a minimal charge to belong to the club.
